Jamshedpur is situated in the Dalbhum sub-division of Singhbhum district in the state of Jharkhand. It spreads between 20 o 45 – 20 o 50 latitudes North of the equator and 86 o 9 – 86 o 16 longitudes East of the meridian. It stands on the main railway line connecting Calcutta and Mumbai and is situated at a distance of 155 miles from Calcutta and 1007 miles from Mumbai. It is situated at an altitude of 532 ft. above sea level.
