Jamshedpur is situated in the Dalbhum sub-division of Singhbhum district in the state of Jharkhand. It spreads between 20 o 45 – 20 o 50 latitudes North of the equator and 86 o 9 – 86 o 16 longitudes East of the meridian. It stands on the main railway line connecting Calcutta and Mumbai and is situated at a distance of 155 miles from Calcutta and 1007 miles from Mumbai. It is situated at an altitude of 532 ft. above sea level.
Spread over 219 sq. Km. Area, Jamshedpur has a picturesque location at the confluence of two rivers Subarnarekha and Kharkai, accommodating 1.337 million population as of 2011 census data.
